Gelato - Customer Case Study

Gelato is a global, cloud-based print platform that connects consumers and businesses with high-end digital print facilities worldwide. Facing rapid global growth and seasonal demand spikes up to four times base load, the company needed a redundant, reliable, and cost‑effective infrastructure that was easy to operate and could maintain strong service levels.

Gelato migrated from a collocated data center to AWS, using Amazon S3, EC2 across multiple Availability Zones in a VPC, CloudFront, Route 53, EC2 Spot instances, and Amazon ECS for a microservices architecture. The move gave them on-demand scale (able to provision 100+ servers and process ~100 TB during peaks), lean operations managed by a single systems engineer, and the ability to support over two million customers and accelerate growth while keeping costs essentially flat.
