A Amazon Web Services Case Study

Preview of the FunPlus Game Case Study

FunPlus Game - Customer Case Study

FunPlus Game is a global mobile and social gaming company with offices in China, the United States, and Canada that serves millions of players across Facebook, regional social networks, and mobile app stores. As a six-person developer team, FunPlus struggled with a traditional hosted datacenter that was slow to scale and not programmatically controllable, creating bottlenecks as user demand grew rapidly.

Moving to AWS gave FunPlus programmatic control and the ability to automate scaling across Amazon S3, EC2, and CloudFront. The team built custom auto-scaling scripts to deploy servers in under a minute and roll out releases in less than four hours, enabling rapid scaling from hundreds to thousands of servers as needed. The result: rapid user growth (from 1M to 3M in three months, later reaching millions more) managed by a small operations team, predictable cost savings (10–15% via EC2 Reserved Instances), and the flexibility to focus on game development.
