Freecharge Transforms Its Digital Payment Platform on AWS to Improve Market Competitiveness

Freecharge, a digital payments company owned by Axis Bank, needed to lower IT costs, speed up launches, and improve resiliency while supporting its growing fintech platform. Working with Amazon Web Services, it modernized its application stack using services such as Amazon DynamoDB and Amazon EKS, and also moved its disaster recovery setup to the AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region.

Amazon Web Services helped Freecharge migrate microservices to Amazon EKS and move customer session data from Aerospike to Amazon DynamoDB, while simplifying disaster recovery in Hyderabad. The results included 50% lower DR costs, 60% lower NoSQL database costs, 22% lower AWS billing, faster environment creation from hours to minutes, and a consumer lending platform launched in just 45 days.
