Formula 1 - Customer Case Study

Formula 1, the global promoter of the FIA Formula One World Championship with more than 500 million fans, needed to modernize its IT stack and extract real-time insights from massive race telemetry (120 sensors per car, 3 GB of data per car, 1,500 data points per second). The challenge was to move away from on‑premises data centers, accelerate cloud transformation, and deliver timely race metrics, better team strategies, richer broadcasts, and scalable high‑performance computing for simulations.

Formula 1 standardized on AWS and deployed services such as Amazon Kinesis, Amazon SageMaker, AWS Lambda, analytics tools, and AWS Elemental Media Services to stream, process, and analyze race data. By training deep‑learning models on 65 years of historical data and processing live telemetry in real time, Formula 1 now delivers predictive race metrics and fan-facing insights, powers video workflows, and runs scalable HPC simulations—gaining speed, reliability, global reach, and improved operational scale.
