Football Addicts, the Swedish developer behind the popular Forza Football app (about 3 million monthly active users and 51 million votes in 18 months), gives fans the ability to rate games, players, and transfers. The company wanted deeper, customizable insight into user behavior but found its previous analytics provider wouldn’t let them own or export their data, limiting their ability to track custom events and the metrics that mattered to them.
They moved to AWS Amazon Mobile Analytics, exporting data to Amazon S3 and Redshift and building a custom dashboard called Freekick to visualize 1.6 billion events across 100 million sessions per month. With full data ownership they identified key issues—such as users abandoning the app within the first 15 minutes—launched targeted fixes and A/B tests, and gained clearer year‑on‑year and country‑level retention insights to guide product and marketing decisions.
