Fireball International Shortens Wildfire Detection to 3 Minutes Using AWS

Fireball International, founded in 2020 to protect lives, homes, and the environment through early wildfire detection, needed a way to scale its proof-of-concept into a reliable, automated platform. The company worked with Amazon Web Services and used services including Amazon S3 and Amazon EKS to build an event-driven system that could process massive volumes of ground-camera and satellite imagery while reducing manual effort.

With Amazon Web Services, Fireball International automated image storage, analysis, and alerting, using ML models and messaging services to detect fires and notify authorities quickly. The result was a platform processing more than 2.5 million images and over 30GB of satellite data per day, with potential wildfires detected within three minutes of smoke detection and alerts sent up to five times faster than human reporting.
