Fashiolista - Customer Case Study

Fashiolista is a Netherlands‑based social network that helps more than a million fashion fans discover and share clothing, shoes and accessories. Rapid growth—more than 100 million page views per month and tens of thousands of new members each month—outpaced the startup’s self‑hosted infrastructure, creating unpredictable peak loads and making hardware procurement and scaling too slow and costly.

Fashiolista migrated its architecture to AWS, using EC2, ELB, S3, CloudFront, ElastiCache and other managed services, plus automation tools like CloudFormation and Puppet to spin up production‑like stacks in minutes. The move delivered faster deployments, lower upfront costs, improved testing, 99.88% uptime and a 150% increase in web traffic while enabling user growth from about 700,000 to over 1 million and easier expansion into new regions.
