Fanatics - Customer Case Study

Fanatics, a market leader in officially licensed pro and college sports merchandise with more than 300 online and offline stores and over 250 million annual website visitors, faced a data scale problem: thousands of SKUs and massive volumes of transactional and e-commerce data generated continuously across its systems. To improve business intelligence, the company needed a cost-effective, scalable way to store and analyze roughly 100 terabytes of analytical data from five different applications by moving it to the cloud.

Fanatics built a cloud data lake on AWS—using Amazon S3, Redshift, Hadoop, and Spark—and engaged Attunity CloudBeam to migrate and continuously load data from SQL Server, Oracle, and other systems into S3 with zero downtime and SSL encryption. The solution cut licensing complexity via an hourly BYOL option on the AWS Marketplace, consolidated billing, and gave data scientists immediate, real-time access to large datasets for actionable customer insights and faster analysis.
