F-Secure Increases Customer Insight and Speeds Up Activation Using AWS

F‑Secure, a global cybersecurity firm serving tens of millions of consumers and more than 100,000 businesses, needed better insight into the customer journey—particularly subscription activation—to speed installations and improve the user experience. The team wanted to detect where customers stalled in the activation flow and react to events in real time to boost activation rates and downstream sales opportunities.

They built an event‑driven data pipeline on AWS—using Amazon Kinesis, AWS Lambda (with an initial EC2 build), DynamoDB, S3, Redshift and other services—to capture and process activation events. The serverless architecture enabled near‑real‑time detection of recurring problems, faster development of fixes or partner interventions, and a move toward microservices; the result was faster activations, improved customer insight, and roughly 70% lower infrastructure operating costs versus on‑premises.
