Exeter Family Friendly - Customer Case Study

Exeter Family Friendly is a specialist insurer in Exeter serving tens of thousands of customers. After the 2010 merger of two societies, the company faced the challenge of consolidating heterogeneous, legacy policy and financial systems while meeting rising online demand, tighter SLAs from aggregators, and strict regulatory and data‑security requirements.

Exeter migrated its core systems to AWS with support from Solutions Architects, running production, test/dev and support environments across three Amazon VPCs and using EC2, Windows/SQL Server, Elastic Load Balancing, Direct Connect, S3/Glacier, WorkSpaces, IAM and CloudTrail. The move delivered regulatory certifications (including ISO 27001), cut a key financial calculation from 18 hours to 3 hours, enabled real‑time quoting (now over 100,000 online quotes per month), freed staff to innovate, and improved customer responsiveness and market competitiveness.
