Encoding - Customer Case Study

Encoding.com is a cloud-based video transcoding service that makes converting video into all popular formats easy, cost-effective, and instantly scalable for enterprises and SMBs. The company needed to support unpredictable, high-volume encoding workloads and large file transfers while avoiding the cost and complexity of in-house infrastructure and traditional online video platforms.

Encoding.com built its platform on AWS—running media processing on Amazon EC2, using Amazon S3 for temporary storage and backups, and AWS Import/Export and CloudFront for large transfers and delivery—enabling a usage-based, elastic SaaS model. As a result, the team has processed over eight million media files, regularly runs up to 600 concurrent EC2 instances (averaging ~100 instances and ~40,000 files per day), serves 1,000+ customers across multiple verticals, and significantly reduced CAPEX and headcount while maintaining stable, scalable operations.
