A Amazon Web Services Case Study
Emagine International, founded in 1998 and headquartered in Sydney, provides RED.cloud, a real-time event-decisioning platform that helps telecoms respond to customer events (for example, when users near data limits). To stay relevant as customers migrate to cloud infrastructure, Emagine needed to move RED.cloud from on-premises deployments to a cloud environment that could scale seamlessly, keep costs predictable, maintain high availability, and meet a strict requirement to make decisions and deliver interactions in under 250 milliseconds.
Emagine chose AWS and engaged partner Blue Crystal Solutions to design and deploy an architecture using Amazon VPC, EC2/EBS, VoltDB and Oracle databases, S3 backups, and CloudWatch-integrated monitoring. The implementation passed an independent telecom security audit, ingests multiple terabytes of real-time data, scales from millions of users while maintaining sub-250ms response times, and lets Emagine optimize costs by paying for usage and avoiding large upfront infrastructure investments.
