A Amazon Web Services Case Study
Dolphin Browser, developed by MoboTap, is a free mobile web browser known for touch-focused features like Dolphin Gesture, Webzine and Connect. As the company expanded after its 2010 launch, it needed a cloud platform that could support rapid feature rollouts, handle growing user demand and keep upfront costs and administrative overhead low — a challenge that other providers couldn’t meet as effectively as Amazon Web Services (AWS).
MoboTap built a comprehensive AWS-based infrastructure using EC2, S3, EBS, EMR, RDS, CloudFront and CloudWatch, now running 80+ instances and growing. The integrated stack reduced maintenance and enabled fast experimentation and product development, while Reserved Instances and Consolidated Billing cut costs — giving MoboTap the scalability, availability and budget control to rapidly grow Dolphin Browser.
