Directive Games - Customer Case Study

Directive Games is a VR/AR mobile game start-up (founded 2014, HQ in Hong Kong with offices in Shanghai and Reykjavik) that needed a way to build and run cross‑platform, multiplayer games and a SaaS development platform (Kaleo) while operating with a small, distributed IT team. Their priorities were compatibility across systems, high availability, strong security, global reach and low operational overhead—plus the ability to scale quickly for peaks in traffic.

Directive Games built its platform on AWS using services such as Amazon EC2, Elastic Load Balancing, Amazon VPC and S3, with AWS CloudFormation for rapid environment provisioning and AWS Lambda for serverless configuration updates; game and operational analytics run through Amazon Elasticsearch Service and Amazon Redshift with CloudWatch monitoring. The result: faster development and deployment with fewer developers, automated configuration and lower costs, robust security and global availability, and proven stability during large player influxes.
