Custora Cuts Overhead, Accelerates Innovation Using AWS

Custora, a customer-engagement analytics provider built on AWS, processes large nightly and weekly batches of retail and e-commerce data to run dozens of predictive models. Its ETL pipeline and analytics caching layer required many EC2 instances to access the same data concurrently, but a self-managed RAID of EBS volumes with NFS forced frequent volume resizing and multi-terabyte replication, causing downtime and heavy operational overhead.

Custora migrated to Amazon EFS, which uses standard NFS v4.1 and scales automatically, consolidating 81 TB into a single managed file system. The move eliminated overprovisioning and disruptive volume mounts, reduced ops effort and downtime, maintained comparable costs, and gave the team the elastic storage needed to accelerate prototyping and innovation.
