Couchbase Reduces Latency by 80% for Its Distributed Database Solutions Using AWS Local Zones

Couchbase wanted to help customers get faster, more reliable access to its NoSQL database solutions, but needed to validate whether AWS Local Zones could reduce latency for distributed and edge workloads. Working with Amazon Web Services, Couchbase used Amazon EC2 and AWS Local Zones to test performance for a web app backed by the Couchbase database.

Amazon Web Services supported Couchbase in running hundreds of latency test iterations across Availability Zones and Local Zones, measuring server, database, and end-to-end response times. The result was an average 80% reduction in latency for certain use cases, enabling Couchbase customers to run infrastructure fully in the cloud with less operational complexity and lower costs.
