Coinbase is a San Francisco–based bitcoin wallet and exchange that supports millions of users worldwide. Coinbase built its exchange on AWS, using IAM, EC2, RDS/PostgreSQL, CloudFormation, VPC, Kinesis, Lambda, S3, EMR and Redshift to secure infrastructure, automate deployments, and stream and analyze telemetry (about 1 TB/1 billion events daily). The result: secure custody of customer funds, faster global scaling and launches, real‑time operational insight for engineers, and the agility to focus on product innovation as the business expands.
