Chime Scales Member Services and Innovates Using Amazon Aurora and Amazon EC2

Chime, a growing financial services company, faced capacity and scaling challenges as it migrated its infrastructure to Amazon Web Services in 2020. Its team needed a more reliable way to support increasing customer demand, reduce database maintenance, and avoid outages while expanding services.

Amazon Web Services helped Chime move its database to Amazon Aurora and scale compute with Amazon EC2 and Amazon EKS, while also using AWS Glue, DynamoDB, and Lambda for data processing and new services. The migration was completed with no customer downtime, the database more than doubled in size, backlog processing time dropped from hours to minutes, and Chime gained more engineering time to build new features and improve customer satisfaction.
