Chai Point Scales to Support the Sale of 150,000 Cups of Chai Daily with AWS

Chai Point, founded in 2010, is India’s largest organized chai retailer with about 100 stores, on-demand delivery, IoT-enabled dispensers, and a proprietary POS called SHARK. Rapid expansion and the need to run core apps—ERP, CRM, inventory management, analytics, and IoT services like boxC.in—made an on-premises infrastructure impractical because it required upfront capacity planning that couldn’t match unpredictable growth.

Chai Point migrated its key systems to AWS (using EC2, S3, RDS, VPC and exploring AWS IoT), with ongoing architecture guidance and training. The move delivered high reliability and scalability—supporting sales of more than 150,000 cups of chai daily, enabling frequent software releases, deploying 100 connected dispensers with 300 more planned, and controlling costs by scaling infrastructure to demand—while positioning the company to triple in size and pursue machine learning and website migration on AWS.
