Centrica Drives Cloud-First Strategy While Delivering Greater Value to Customers with AWS

Centrica, a major energy and services company, wanted to move from managing third-party providers and on-premises systems to a cloud-first model, but its teams lacked the cloud-native skills needed to lead that shift. To close the gap, Centrica worked with Amazon Web Services, using AWS training, certification, and expert support to build internal cloud capability and support projects such as legacy platform migrations and new customer-facing services.

Amazon Web Services helped Centrica upskill 167 employees with 2,456 hours of AWS Classroom Training in 2022, plus self-paced learning through AWS Skill Builder, hands-on programs, and AWS-supported Cloud Academy and Cloud Council initiatives. The result was stronger cloud engineering skills, better employee engagement, reduced attrition, and improved customer experience; in one 2023 project, AWS services including Amazon AppFlow, AWS Glue, and AWS Lambda helped Centrica create a data analysis environment for a chatbot, optimizing costs and establishing best practices from the start.
