Celsa Group - Customer Case Study

Celsa Group, founded in 1967, is Spain’s largest manufacturer of long steel products and a major European producer with operations across several countries. Facing pressure to innovate and deliver new customer services, the company weighed expanding on-premises hardware versus moving to the cloud and ultimately chose an ambitious cloud-first strategy despite the conservative nature of the industry.

Celsa implemented AWS (including Amazon EC2, Amazon RDS, Amazon Route 53, and Amazon VPC) to run websites, business and industrial apps, and development environments, enabling a cloud-first approach for new projects. The move cut IT-related costs by up to 50%, sped provisioning by 30x, and unlocked new services such as an online steel-structure design platform and plans to use AI-driven image recognition for scrap classification.
