Canva Works with AWS Professional Services to Augment Security with Data Lake

Canva partnered with Amazon Web Services Professional Services to strengthen its IT security posture while reducing the cost and time needed to build a threat-detection solution. As Canva’s environment and log volume grew, the team needed a better way to find suspicious activity in a much larger “haystack” of data, using services like Amazon Kinesis Data Streams.

Amazon Web Services recommended and implemented a cloud-based data lake architecture with tools including Amazon Elasticsearch Service, AWS Glue, Amazon S3, Amazon Athena, AWS Lambda, and Amazon DynamoDB. The solution gave Canva new threat-detection and digital investigation capabilities, with Kibana helping analysts spot abnormal behavior and investigate alerts; the result was over 50 million logs analyzed every day, with faster deployment, lower costs, and greater security visibility and control.
