Case Study: Canary achieves global scalability and stronger security with Amazon Web Services

A Amazon Web Services Case Study

Preview of the Canary Case Study

Canary - Customer Case Study

Canary, the New York City startup behind the Canary in-home security system, needed a cloud platform that could scale quickly after its crowdfunding success while keeping customer data highly secure. The company turned to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and services like Amazon S3, Amazon EC2, Amazon RDS, and later Amazon DynamoDB to support rapid growth, global demand, and a fast-moving Internet of Things product.

Amazon Web Services helped Canary build a secure, flexible infrastructure with VPC, IAM, and CloudFormation, while also speeding deployment and reducing back-end management overhead. With AWS, Canary scaled to customers in 185 countries, stores more than 150 million videos per day, and moved its data platform from a sketch to production in just four weeks, all while rolling out new features faster and focusing more on product innovation.
