Building a Scalable Solution for Digital Ticket Distribution Using AWS with Samtrafiken

Samtrafiken needed a reliable, scalable way to digitize and distribute travel tickets for users of SJ and the Stockholm PTA, especially at gate activation where speed and availability are critical. Working with Amazon Web Services, the company built a serverless AWS-based solution to connect otherwise incompatible travel apps and support local, low-latency ticket storage in Stockholm.

Amazon Web Services helped Samtrafiken implement Amazon Aurora Serverless for ticket storage, AWS Fargate for serverless application compute, and Terraform for automated infrastructure management. The result was a more resilient ticketing platform with backup/retry protection, easier development, and the ability to scale as demand grows, while maintaining nearly 99.99% uptime and a smoother travel experience for users.
