BP Unleashes Spiral Suite in the AWS Cloud

BP, a global energy company operating refineries and producing fuels and petrochemicals worldwide, faced a critical downstream challenge: making fast, accurate refinery feedstock and product decisions. Running Schneider Electric’s Spiral Suite on on‑premises systems meant extremely long computation times (up to seven hours or even days for some analytics) and risk from analysts working on local copies of data, limiting agility and increasing decision risk.

BP moved Spiral Suite to AWS—running on Amazon EC2 with AWS Auto Scaling and centralizing data in Amazon S3—so calculations that once took about seven hours now complete in under four minutes. The migration delivered a single source of truth, enabled many more parallel analyses, reduced decision risk, standardized processes across sites, and allowed BP to adapt to market changes in near real time.
