Blesh - Customer Case Study

Blesh operates Turkey’s largest beacon platform—more than 100,000 sensors integrated into 300 popular mobile apps and used by over 250 brands—collecting roughly 735 million data entries per month in 2017. The company faced a sharp scaling challenge when it took on Istanbul Airport’s deployment, which would add about 90 million monthly data points and require real-time passenger tracking across many retail units, so it needed a cloud analytics solution able to process massive, time-sensitive data streams.

Blesh migrated its analytics to AWS—using Amazon Redshift, EC2 (with ELB), S3, Route 53 and the Server Migration Service—moving logs to S3, triggering EC2 processing and storing results in Redshift; the migration took two days. The change cut latency from ~1000 ms to 100–500 ms (vs. competitors’ multi-minute delays), raised availability to 99.981%, reduced IT maintenance time by about 85% (avoiding several hires), and enabled real-time airport notifications and new proximity-advertising services.
