A Amazon Web Services Case Study
Jampp is a mobile-app advertising platform (founded in 2013) that uses behavioral data and machine‑learning to help app publishers acquire and engage customers. As its customer base and event volumes exploded—processing about 75 TB/day and surging by an extra 35 million events/hour for one client—its Kafka-based pipeline couldn’t scale on demand, threatening real‑time bidding accuracy and profitability for every impression.
Jampp rebuilt its streaming stack on AWS using Amazon Kinesis, Lambda, Firehose, S3, DynamoDB, RDS and EC2 Spot instances, with AWS Solutions Architect support. The move let Jampp process 250× more in‑app events in 18 months, reduce tracking costs to about one‑third of the prior solution (saving roughly $15K/month), cut server costs by 66% with Spot instances, and shrink operations to two DevOps engineers while supporting 800 EC2 instances and 500,000 queries/second—helping it grow its advertiser base by 250% and now serve over half of the top 150 global app advertisers.
