Be Software, a provider of industry-specific software for sensitive health and employment records, faced strict requirements to keep data in-country and meet rigorous privacy and security standards. The company needed a cloud platform with local data centers and strong compliance credentials, and it wanted to avoid major application changes while reducing infrastructure complexity and cost.

Be Software lifted and shifted its infrastructure to AWS—using EC2, S3, EBS, RDS, Route 53 and other services—enabling faster IRAP/ISO certification, minimal downtime during migration, and a roughly 50% infrastructure cost cut in year one (about 30% ongoing). In a second phase it replaced a self-managed GlusterFS/EBS setup with Amazon EFS, eliminating EC2 instances for file storage, paying only for used capacity, lowering file-storage costs by about 25%, and achieving ~130% faster file writes.
