A Amazon Web Services Case Study
Bayer’s Crop Protection Innovation Lab needed a low-cost, scalable way to help farmers detect pest migration in the field. Working with Amazon Web Services, Bayer built the Digital Yellow Trap, an IoT device that uses image recognition and AI to monitor crops and alert farmers to threats quickly.
Amazon Web Services provided services including Amazon SageMaker, AWS IoT Device Management, AWS Lambda, and AWS X-Ray to train models, manage devices, run serverless workloads, and improve tracing. The solution delivers pest insights to a mobile app within minutes, and Bayer achieved a 94% reduction in architecture running costs while scaling to tens of thousands of requests per second.
