Baxter Provides Hospitals Data-Driven Insights Using AWS IoT Core

Baxter is undergoing a companywide digital transformation, including migrating 1,400 business applications to Amazon Web Services (AWS), while modernizing how it connects and uses data from its medical devices. Its challenge was to securely access and analyze device data remotely, improve visibility for hospitals, and reduce costs while moving away from a legacy on-premises environment.

Amazon Web Services implemented the cloud-native TrueVue solution using AWS IoT Core, Amazon Redshift, and Amazon EMR to securely transmit device data, automate documentation into electronic medical records, and analyze aggregated anonymized insights. With AWS, Baxter gained a low-fixed-cost, highly agile platform that improves data access, supports secure analytics for specific users, and provides hospital-level therapy insights.
