AWS Cloud Meets Growing Needs of K-12 Students

Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS), the 12th largest district in Florida with about 67,000 students and 10,000 employees, needed a secure, mobile-responsive website that reflected its high standards. Their five-year-old in-house site had over 2,000 pages of outdated information, a dated design and a cumbersome backend for web authors, and the district also required ADA compliance, strong security and scalable performance to handle peak demand.

SCPS deployed the Solodev Web Experience Platform on AWS, gaining inline editing, SEO tools, enterprise permissions, dynamic navigation and custom app capabilities, while AWS services (CloudFront, EC2 auto-scaling, EFS and built-in network security) delivered speed, elasticity and protection. Since the January 2017 launch they’ve seen a 13% increase in returning visitors and 3% more new visitors, opened an advertising revenue stream, enabled video streaming and interactive calendars, and gained a resilient, modern web platform to roll out across the district.
