A Amazon Web Services Case Study

Avira - Customer Case Study

Avira, a global IT‑security company protecting more than 100 million users with development teams in Germany and Bucharest, faced a hosting challenge as its product suite and services like Avira Protection Cloud grew. Projects required large, highly available and redundant environments able to handle up to a 50x increase in users and tens of millions of endpoints, making on‑premises physical provisioning too slow and costly.

Avira moved more than ten projects to Amazon Web Services, using VPC, EC2, S3, Auto Scaling, ELB, RDS, Redshift, ElastiCache and CloudFront to isolate environments and scale globally. The migration cut infrastructure planning and budgeting time by about 80%, enabled three times more releases in the same period, reduced hardware costs, sped onboarding of large user bases, and improved service performance and interconnection.
