Autodesk Builds Reliable, Cost-Effective Big Data Analytics Using Amazon EMR

Autodesk, the 3D design and engineering software company, relied on data to drive business decisions but its third-party big data platform was plagued by reliability issues, outages, and scaling problems as the company grew. To replace it, Autodesk turned to Amazon Web Services and adopted Amazon EMR, with support from the AWS Migration Acceleration Program, to handle its petabyte-scale analytics workloads.

Amazon Web Services helped Autodesk migrate Spark and Presto workloads onto Amazon EMR, using Amazon EBS for scalable storage. The result was 99.8% availability for key workloads, no significant outages, a 25% reduction in troubleshooting time, and 30% lower costs, while also improving security and enabling near real-time cost attribution across teams.
