Ascend Money Improves Application Performance by 40% Using AWS Graviton–Based EC2 Instances

Ascend Money, a leading fintech company in Southeast Asia, needed more agility, scalability, and reliability than its monolithic on-premises setup could provide as it migrated to the cloud with Amazon Web Services. Using services including Amazon EC2, Amazon EKS, and Amazon EMR, the company aimed to support high transaction volumes and strict financial-regulatory requirements while controlling costs and improving performance.

Amazon Web Services helped Ascend Money implement a multi-architecture cloud strategy that combined x86 Spot Instances with AWS Graviton2-based EC2 instances and AWS Auto Scaling. The result was 70% compute cost savings, up to 40% better application performance in some workloads, and about 20% better performance on comparable Graviton2 instances without code changes, enabling faster delivery of new services.
