Arena Flowers - Customer Case Study

Arena Flowers is a UK-based online retailer of ethically sourced flowers and gifts serving Europe and the U.S., and acting as a fulfillment partner for other brands. Rapid growth and massive seasonal spikes—up to 2,000% around Valentine’s and Mother’s Day—exposed capacity limits in its hosted, fixed-server setup, creating scalability, performance and cost challenges.

Arena migrated its infrastructure to AWS, gradually splitting applications onto EC2 (Multi-AZ), Amazon RDS, Elastic Beanstalk, SES, S3, Route 53 and IAM, and using Reserved Instances and automated deployment scripts. The move improved performance and reliability during peak traffic, sped up deployments, gave the team greater operational control, and reduced hosting costs by about 30% annually.
