A Amazon Web Services Case Study
amaysim, an Australian mobile provider serving more than 1.2 million customers, needed a more scalable and cost-effective way to run its infrastructure as demand grew. After moving away from leased on-premises data centers, the company worked with Amazon Web Services, using Amazon EC2 and AWS CloudFormation to modernize its cloud environment and support continuous delivery while reducing operational complexity.
Amazon Web Services helped amaysim diversify instance types, adopt dual Auto Scaling groups, and move all production workloads to Spot Instances across six instance families. This improved resilience and scalability while cutting compute costs by 75%, and it also sped up batch billing jobs from up to 7 minutes to just 10–12 seconds. By containerizing workloads with Amazon ECS, amaysim further improved uptime, performance, and customer satisfaction.
