Alpha Apps - Customer Case Study

Alpha Apps, a UAE-based developer of Arabic content apps founded in 2011 best known for the Almwajaha trivia game, faced serious scalability and performance issues as user numbers grew. Its traditional hosting provider caused slow response times and outages once the app reached about 20,000 users, making provisioning additional servers costly and time-consuming and putting user growth at risk.

Working with AWS partner Falcon 9, Alpha Apps migrated to an AWS-based microservices architecture using EC2, Elastic Load Balancing, Lambda, Cognito, Step Functions, DynamoDB, CloudFront and WAF. The move delivered automatic scaling to millions of users, cut database costs by 97% and content-delivery costs by 80%, improved security and compliance with less operational overhead, sped up provisioning and testing, and enabled Alpha Apps to pass savings on to clients.
