AGC Inc. - Customer Case Study

AGC Inc., the world’s largest glass manufacturer and a diversified materials company, launched a Vision 2025 strategy that required both highly stable IT for core businesses and rapid, flexible systems for new strategic areas. After the 2011 earthquake, business-continuity planning made adding a second data center cost-prohibitive, so AGC evaluated cloud options to achieve disaster preparedness, governance, and speed without duplicating hardware.

AGC chose AWS (Tokyo Region), migrated its SAP ERP starting in 2014, and used a standardized catalog approach called Alchemy to accelerate deployments. Today more than 90 systems and 500+ instances run on AWS, delivering roughly 40% cost savings, much faster provisioning (days versus months), reduced TCO and improved disaster readiness, while enabling IT to shift from infrastructure maintenance to business-facing innovation and upskilling staff for cloud-native roles.
