A Amazon Web Services Case Study
9sPlay is a Taiwan‑based operator of app‑based mobile games with operations across Asia that wanted to scale into new markets like South Korea while keeping costs low. After suffering DDoS attacks in Taiwan that disrupted player logins and finding commercial firewall services too expensive, the company needed a more affordable, scalable way to protect availability and support growth.
Working with AWS and partner Nextlink, 9sPlay built a cloud architecture using Amazon EC2, Route 53, CloudFront and AWS WAF to detect and block malicious traffic and mitigate DDoS threats. The move raised login service availability by up to 60%, cut firewall spending to roughly 5% of a leading provider’s monthly cost, reduced IT management time by about 70%, and enabled cost‑effective scaling across the Asia‑Pacific region.
