3M Health Information Systems Provisions Development Pipelines in Minutes Using AWS Service Catalog

3M Health Information Systems (3M HIS) needed a faster, more secure way to provision and govern CI/CD pipelines across global teams. Manual pipeline builds created bottlenecks, configuration errors, and slowed application startup and customer feedback, while the organization required strong adherence to information-security policies.

Working with an AWS Premier Consulting Partner, 3M HIS implemented AWS Service Catalog and AWS CloudFormation to deliver preapproved, team-specific pipelines on AWS CodePipeline and Jenkins, enforced with IAM least-privilege roles. The result: new pipelines are provisioned in about 10 minutes instead of days, reducing bottlenecks, improving consistency and compliance, minimizing manual errors, and laying the groundwork for full self-service automation (including future AWS Lambda-based approvals).
