A Amazon SES Case Study
Ziff Davis, Inc., the all-digital media company behind PCMag, IGN and AskMen, faced a fragmented infrastructure after rapid acquisitions that made licensing, management and scaling slow, costly, and error-prone. To standardize its Perpetual Media Engine and unify web properties, Ziff Davis adopted AWS services — including Amazon SES — to gain programmatic control, preconfigured backend services, and a single, automated hosting environment.
By deploying Amazon SES alongside Amazon EC2, S3, RDS, Auto Scaling, SQS and other AWS tools, Ziff Davis consolidated operations, automated deployments and scaled horizontally; it now processes 2–4 billion user signals per month, stores nearly half a petabyte of data, and typically migrates a new property in about a week. The move to Amazon SES/AWS reduced costs by roughly 20–30%, sped time-to-market through near‑instant prototyping, and lets the company automatically handle 2–4 million daily ad signals for the NetShelter network.
