Y-cam Solutions Ltd, a U.K. pioneer in internet-connected home-security cameras, needed to move off a hardware-only model into an affordable, subscription-based monitored alarm service without the high costs of operating a 24/7 network operations center. To achieve this transformation, Y-cam partnered with Amazon SES and other AWS services — notably Amazon Polly, AWS Lambda, and Amazon API Gateway — and integrated a Twilio bot to provide voice-assisted, redundant communications for its new offering.
Using Amazon SES alongside Amazon Polly and AWS Lambda, Y-cam built the Y-cam Protect serverless platform that uses a Twilio bot and natural-sounding Amazon Polly speech to handle alarm calls and actions in place of a staffed NOC. The solution was delivered in six months, runs with a 10-person team, enabled pricing at roughly one-third of major alarm providers, and drove measurable impact including 75% year-over-year revenue growth and dramatically faster AI service launches (hours versus weeks).
