Goodman Group, an international property management company, faced challenges with its on-premises SharePoint environment, including network latency for global users, unplanned outages, and a 60-hour search indexing process that severely hampered productivity. To overcome these issues, they turned to vendor Amazon Web Services (AWS) to leverage the cloud for a more scalable and reliable solution.

By implementing a high-availability SharePoint 2013 environment on Amazon EC2 within an Amazon VPC, the solution utilized Elastic Load Balancing and Amazon S3 for storage. With AWS, Goodman reduced its search indexing time by 90%, from 60 hours to just 6 hours, and achieved near 100% application availability. The move also saved an estimated $400,000 in capital expenditure and seamlessly supported data growth without performance loss.
