Dr. Lal PathLabs, a leading diagnostic company in India, faced frequent problems with its on‑premises website and app infrastructure — six to 10 hours of downtime per month, 4–5 minute PDF download times over 4G, overprovisioned servers to meet morning/afternoon peaks, and many customer complaints. To modernize its platform the company moved to AWS and adopted services including Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, Amazon RDS, Amazon SNS and Amazon SES for customer email updates.
Working with an AWS partner to migrate into an Amazon VPC, Dr. Lal PathLabs implemented scalable EC2 instances, S3 storage for results, RDS backups, SNS notifications and Amazon SES for emails; the change eliminated monthly downtime, reduced PDF download time to about one second on 4G, cut helpline complaints by 25%, and freed up at least 10% of IT admin time through elastic scaling and improved performance. Amazon SES continues to be used as part of this solution to notify customers when results are ready.
