AWS Account Security Personnel (on the Move) gets near real-time phone call alerts with Amazon Polly

The customer, AWS account security personnel on the move, needed a better way to receive immediate alerts for critical security events within their AWS account. While email and SMS were available, they required a more immediate and attention-grabbing method. They worked with vendor Amazon Polly, an AI text-to-speech service, to address this challenge.

Amazon Polly implemented a solution that integrated with the customer's existing event detection system. When a high-severity event occurred, an alert was sent to an SNS topic, which triggered a Lambda function. This function used Amazon Polly to convert the alert text into a lifelike audio file, which was then played during an automated outbound phone call placed via Twilio. The result was a near real-time, voice-based alert system that provided the security team with immediate notification of critical account activity, enhancing their ability to respond swiftly to potential threats.
