Case Study: Bonfire (custom fundraising and merch platform) increases conversions and fundraising with Amazon Pay

A Amazon Pay Case Study

Preview of the Bonfire Case Study

Bonfire’s unique approach to customizable clothing is helping nonprofits and creators spread the word

Bonfire is a Richmond, Virginia–based platform that helps nonprofits, creators, and individuals design and sell custom apparel without the risk of surplus inventory, handling orders, printing, and shipping. To make buying easier for supporters and reduce friction at checkout, Bonfire integrated Amazon Pay into its marketplace so customers can purchase shirts without creating a new account.

By integrating Amazon Pay and expanding seller tools (including remarketing support and a robust seller dashboard), Bonfire scaled to serve campaigns of 10–10,000 orders and improved the purchasing experience for donors and fans. The platform helped raise more than $6.3 million for causes in 2018, maintains unit economics (roughly $10 cost on a $22 shirt), and continues to rely on Amazon Pay to simplify transactions and boost conversions.
