Grupanya, a Turkey‑based group‑buying e‑commerce site with nearly three million subscribers and rapid mobile growth, faced stiff competition, rapid scaling needs, and unreliable local hosting that caused outages and limited agility. Already using Amazon CloudSearch, the company decided to migrate its infrastructure to AWS to gain flexibility, faster deployments, and better availability.

Leveraging Amazon CloudSearch alongside an AWS stack (Amazon EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Amazon VPC), Grupanya separated web and mobile services, spun up instances on demand, and scaled for traffic spikes of about 100% during Ramadan. The move eliminated costly outages (from two outages a year to none reported after migration), helped mobile revenue overtake web, reduced the need for outsourced personnel to zero, and enabled new experiments such as Hadoop‑based recommendations.
