Click Travel - Customer Case Study

Click Travel is a business-travel management company that runs the travel.cloud self-service web application, which aggregates pricing and inventory from hundreds of suppliers and completes about 96% of bookings online. Facing limits from a first-generation monolithic app—slow test cycles, time-consuming changes, and heavy infrastructure maintenance—the company set out to move to a microservices, automated environment on AWS, using services including Amazon CloudSearch for rich querying.

To modernize the platform, Click Travel rebuilt on AWS with a microservices architecture using AWS Lambda, Amazon SNS/SQS, Amazon DynamoDB, CloudFormation, CodeDeploy and Amazon CloudSearch for search capabilities. The shift enabled zero-downtime deployments, better supplier integrations, and freed a 32-person engineering team from system administration; Amazon CloudSearch helped deliver fast, rich queries. Measurable impacts included supporting sustained growth (about 40% year‑over‑year), potential EC2 cost reductions of more than 50% during low-usage periods, and faster, more scalable operations.
