Spotify - Customer Case Study

Spotify, an online music service providing instant access to over 16 million songs, faced the challenge of cataloging and delivering a constantly growing library—adding more than 20,000 tracks a day—while enabling fast application and update delivery to users. To avoid long lead times for capacity upgrades, Spotify adopted AWS services, using Amazon S3 for scalable, durable storage and Amazon CloudFront to deliver the Spotify application and software updates.

Spotify implemented Python-based backend systems that interact with Amazon S3 and used Amazon CloudFront for content delivery, allowing infrastructure to be provisioned via AWS APIs. The result: provisioning that once took months can now be done instantly, faster development and deployment cycles, and a system that can scale automatically to sudden changes in demand—transformations Spotify attributes to its use of Amazon CloudFront and the broader AWS stack.
