A Amazon CloudFront Case Study

Preview of the Rovio Case Study

Rovio Entertainment - Customer Case Study

Rovio, the Finland-based studio behind Angry Birds (more than 1.7 billion downloads) and the Toons channel (over 100 million monthly views), faced the challenge of delivering games and video content with global, always-on availability while keeping costs and operations manageable. To address unpredictable, high-volume traffic spikes and a worldwide audience, Rovio built its platform on AWS and uses Amazon CloudFront for global content distribution alongside services such as Amazon EC2, Amazon RDS, Amazon S3, and Amazon EMR.

Rovio implemented an automated, distributed architecture on AWS and leveraged Amazon CloudFront as its CDN to ensure fast, reliable delivery and easy scalability. The result was a fail‑proof, elastic platform that automatically scales during peak usage, speeds development and testing, and delivers consistent high-quality gameplay and video worldwide—supporting Rovio’s massive user base while controlling costs and improving performance.
